TL;DR: Hi! I’m Guy Berger, a macroeconomist. Welcome to my SubStack!
Longer version: I hope you didn’t grown at the TL;DR, but I’ve found it’s sometimes convenient to find out what you’re going to read before you go down the rabbit hole (or zone out).
I’m Guy Berger, a macroeconomist. A very long time ago I did a PhD at Yale University, but macro’s been my thing for 16 years in the private sector - first in financial services (Bank of America, Royal Bank of Scotland) and then in tech (LinkedIn). I’m currently in a temporary(?) independent professional phase.
I’ve dabbled in lots of stuff, but my specialty is US labor markets. I love this stuff. I follow minor indicators. I have hot takes. I can’t stop talking about it! I also have a strong interest in other segments of the macroeconomy (the Fed, inflation, consumer and business spending, etc) but the labor market is where it’s at - it’s one dimension of the economy that touches nearly all of us!
I’m pretty active on LinkedIn, Twitters and Threads and haven’t figured out exactly what my content on here will be like, but I do plan to publish here at least once a week.
Feedback is welcome!
